Brandin Cooks signs five-year extension with Rams

Brandin Cooks has spent time with three teams over the last two years, but he won’t be moving on to a fourth anytime soon.

The Rams announced Tuesday that they and Cooks have agreed to a five-year contract extension. The Rams acquired Cooks and a fourth-round pick in exchange for first- and sixth-round picks in a trade with the Patriots this offseason.

No financial terms of the deal have been announced.

Guenther told his two sons—Jake, 14 and Duke, 12—about the move, and on January 5 he officially became Oakland’s new defensive coordinator. The family that had only known Cincinnati would be moving 2,400 miles west.

I’ve never really lived on the West Coast, says Guenther, who hails from the Philadelphia area. It was a total flip in lifestyle.

I learned a lot, Anderson said. It was a valuable lesson, but I really don’t want people to look at me and focus on that situation alone because mistakes do happen. It’s not acceptable, but I definitely want everybody to understand that I’ve grown a lot from that and I learned a lot from that. I felt bad to represent the Jets in that way, my family, the people that support me — my fans — but I want them to know I have grown past that and that’s behind me, and I’m focused on the future and improving.

Anderson should also learn soon if he’s going to face league discipline as a result of the arrests. If so, the Jets will miss a talented deep threat on offense — Anderson had a play of at least 25 yards in eight games last season — and Anderson will have more reason to be cautious when away from the field in the future.

Fred Zamberletti, former Vikings trainer: The first time I met Moss, he came to our minicamp, and he’s out there—they have him catching punts, and he’s dropping everything that comes to him. So I said afterward You want to borrow my hands? He said What do you mean? and I said, I know what you were doing back there. You didn’t come here to return punts and didn’t want to give them any inkling that you could do it. (Laughs). I like ole’ Moss.
